All Flashcards
Define inertial reference frame.
A reference frame where an object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion with constant velocity, unless acted upon by a net force.
Define angular displacement.
The change in angular position, measured in radians.
Define angular velocity.
The rate of change of angular displacement, measured in rad/s.
Define angular acceleration.
The rate of change of angular velocity, measured in rad/s².
Define radian.
The angle where the arc length equals the radius of the circle.
How do you convert degrees to radians?
radians = (degrees * π) / 180
How do you calculate angular displacement?
Δθ = θ_final - θ_initial
How do you calculate angular velocity?
ω = Δθ / Δt
How do you calculate angular acceleration?
α = Δω / Δt
How do you relate angular velocity to frequency?
ω = 2πf, where f is the frequency in Hz.
What is the effect of applying a constant torque to an object?
It causes the object to experience angular acceleration.
What happens when angular acceleration is zero?
The angular velocity remains constant.
What is the effect of increasing the radius on linear speed, given a constant angular velocity?
The linear speed increases (v = rω).
What happens if the angular velocity is constant?
Angular displacement increases linearly with time.
What is the effect of a negative angular acceleration?
It causes a decrease in angular velocity.
